Transportation Safety Manager - Hince Transport

Hince Transport is looking for Transportation Safety Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in safety, be able to communicate effectively, and be able to work independently. We are looking for someone who is a natural leader and has a passion for the job. This position will report directly to the CEO and have full responsibility for managing the safety department. The position will be based out of our location in Hearst, ON .
Responsibilities:
· Develop and implements policies and procedures regarding transportation and workplace safety to ensure compliance with state/provincial and federal regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT and MTO)
· Developing materials and conducting sessions for driver orientation, as well as, training for newly hired and existing Team members, based on their position held in the company
· Mentoring the competency of managers in safety management practices, protocols and procedures
· Conducting audits and inspections of private fleet and vendor practices to monitor and ensure policy and procedure compliance
· Collaborating with the recruiting department during the hiring and selection process to ensure quality of drivers being brought on aligns with hiring criteria.
· Create, Maintain and monitor safety files and other related records including but not limited to, Driver Qualification Files
· Conducts post accident review and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
· Acts as company liaison to work with insurance agencies for all accidents/incidents and claim management.
· Report and schedule follow-up with drivers on any violations, tickets, accidents, injuries, claims and other incidents.
· Assist in renewal of permits and licenses, such as IFTA, US HUT Permits etc.
· Data entry and maintenance of Fleet maintenance, Accident, Tickets etc
· Responsible for managing CVOR Events and Compliance Monitoring, including driver Hours of Service (HOS) from ELD
· Support other departments to improve driver retention and address driver issues and complaints
· Assist with other Safety and Compliance functions as required up to and including audits
QUALIFICATIONS
· Health and Safety education and/or equivalent experience.
· 5+ years transportation management and/ or safety management experience
· Knowledge of Hours or Service and MTO and DOT regulations
· Keen attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills
· Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
Job Type: Full-time or Part-time
Salary: To be discussed based on experience

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
