Summary:
Ontario Highway Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Maintenance Contracts for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation in all five of the Ministry’s Regions. Our leadership in the Ontario Road and highway maintenance industry is based on our commitment to continuous improvement through education, innovation, safety, and training.
As a Snow Plow Operator, You Will:
- Safe and efficient operation of equipment including but not limited to Loaders, Snow Plows, and Pick Up trucks to perform snow removal on local roads as per the contract requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation such as: fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service
- Maintain/clean equipment and conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs as required
- Operate specialized equipment, including Winter equipment
- Familiar with performance requirements; understand route map and sand/salt application rate
- Meet call in requirements during a winter storm event
- Operate/handle numerous kinds of construction tools
- Performance Measures, including pothole repairs, installing small signs and end treatments
- Assist in providing traffic control at work zones and at accident scenes, including set up and take down of traffic closures
- Perform housekeeping duties to ensure the shop, common areas, and exterior of the yard are clean and safe
- Other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:

- Must have a DZ license
- Excellent team player, proven ability to work productively in a highly functional team
- Mechanically knowledge and experience with general equipment maintenance and operations of small tools
- Basic computer knowledge
- Demonstrate ability to gain knowledge quickly
- Effective communication (written and verbal) to accurately document daily activities
- Willingness to remain on call on a regular shift rotation, and work assigned day, night and weekend shifts
- Ability to perform manual labour and lift up to 50 kilograms and starting for periods of time.
- Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel when necessary
